Shine Avi Tip of the day!! Questions are an important form of communication. Through wh-questions, children start figuring out their world. .It is absolutely essential that children understand and be able to ask and answer WH questions. These simple questions lay the groundwork for children to participate in conversations, demonstrate knowledge, and collect information about themselves and their world. When children are learning to process and answer WH questions, they usually follow a developmental and predictable sequence. “What” is the earliest question mastered, followed by “Who” and “Where.” Finally, an understanding of “When” and “Why” develop, with “Why” being the most difficult to master. When I write these tips they are even for non verbal children don’t forget though they cannot talk but they can surely listen and autism has given one beautiful blessing to our children and that is understanding-through repeating. Please understand that discrete trial can make our non verbal children learn anything if you don’t give up .While doing these above WH question you have to pick two questions only and then keep the pictures ready for the child to give you answer or you can tell them to match with pencil with corresponding answer .Keep working on expanding knowledge and don’t worry if language is not coming as in order to be productive you not only do it by talking .If anyone with non verbal child wants to get in touch with me about strategies to follow feel free to write her in the group and it will be my pleasure to help .
